How POWER is Expanding Community Impact Through Six Employee-Led, National Nonprofit Partnerships
Best-selling author Raj Sisodia once said that organizations have the power to be instruments for caring at scale, and POWER shares that same belief. In fact, it’s why we choose to use that power for good.
POWER is proud to partner with trailblazing and influential nonprofits, BraveHearts, Girls Inc., League of Urban American Citizens, National Urban League, The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) , and The Trevor Project, to positively impact more diverse communities across the country.
Read on to learn how this vision became a reality, and to meet our new partners in honor of Giving Tuesday.
Putting Our Employees in the Driver’s Seat
Ask anyone within our organization what our power is and they’ll tell you, it’s our people. Our employees are the reason why we’ve cultivated a strong culture, why we have happy customers, and why we’re impacting more and more communities outside of our walls. It’s because they’re heart-forward and purpose-fueled.
That’s what inspired us to create Power for Good — the company’s philanthropic division that turns traditional corporate giving on its head, giving more voice and choice to employees who have a say in how and where corporate funding is given.
As part of Power for Good, the company’s employee resource groups (ERGs) were asked to select a national nonprofit to partner with that’s addressing an issue important to their respective community. POWER has donated a $100,000 grant to each nonprofit, and ERG members have engaged with each of them throughout the year to help create meaningful change.
“For POWER’s ERGs, this moment has been a dream in the making for some time. I remember us discussing the potential for our ERGs to establish these national partners at one of our workshops years ago,” said Olumidé Cole, POWER’s Director of Belonging. “Now, with the development of Power for Good that dream is a reality.”
Power Veterans x BraveHearts
For Power Veterans, they selected their partner BraveHearts, not only because of the tremendous impact they have on Veterans through healing horsemanship, but the values they share with POWER.
The grant provided by POWER helped BraveHearts bring their best-in-class healing horsemanship program to more centers across the country. But that’s not all. Because POWER veterans are service-minded, members of PVI continued to donate volunteer time throughout the year to create small, but tangible change for the nonprofit and the Veterans they serve. During POWER’s North Veteran Expedition, attendees helped with a beautification project of the BraveHearts farm in Illinois.
Power Women x Girls Inc.
Power Women’s ERG was looking for a nonprofit whose mission aligned with their own: ensuring that women have all the mentorship, training, and advocacy necessary to reach the highest levels of leadership, earning potential, and success.
Selecting Girls Inc. as their national partner was a no brainer. For the last 160 years, Girls Inc. has been the preeminent girls leadership organization, equipping girls to reach their full potential. They’re building the new generation of strong, smart, and bold leaders through direct service and advocacy.
POWER has partnered with the nonprofit specifically on their newest initiative called Project Accelerate, which provides mentorship to girls as they transition to college and into the workforce and, with partners, creates pathways for girls to ascend into positions of leadership.
Mi Gente x League of United Latin American Citizens
POWER’s ERG dedicated to the Latino and Hispanic communities, Mi Gente (or “my people” in Spanish) teamed up with the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) in 2024. The nonprofit is the nation’s largest and oldest Latino civil rights organization.
The grant provided by POWER funded a Family Fun Day & Health Fair in San Antonio, TX, providing family-friendly activities and essential health services to local residents. Mi Gente members volunteered at the event in May, helping to make the event more impactful for San Antonio residents.
The remainder of the grant will continue to fund more of these events across the country, helping to bridge the gap between the Latino population and healthcare and provide education and services that this community needs.
B.E.R.G. x National Urban League
POWER’s Black Empowerment Resource Group — also known as B.E.R.G. — is focused on the responsibility of being the new ancestors, so it was important to partner with a nonprofit that aligned with that mission of inspiring the next generation.
The National Urban League is a historic civil rights organization dedicated to economic empowerment, equality, and social justice for African Americans and other underserved groups. POWER’s donation will help drive workforce readiness with the following chapters: Urban League of Central Carolinas, Charlotte NC; Urban League of Philadelphia, Philadelphia; and Urban League of Greater Atlanta, Atlanta.
B.E.R.G. has already been making their impact matter. As part of B.E.R.G.’s annual Juneteenth event, they volunteered with the The Urban League of Philadelphia to provide career counseling and mentorship to Urban League scholarship recipients and local high school graduates.
InspirASIAN x The Asian American Foundation
InspirASIAN is POWER’s ERG dedicated to the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. When researching and vetting nonprofits, they selected The Asian American Foundation (TAAF). TAAF is a national organization building safety, belonging, and prosperity for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders to create a brighter future for all.
TAAF not only advocates on behalf of the AAPI community, but is investing and innovating to create lasting impact. They’ve donated millions of dollars to AAPI organizations, are working to increase AAPI representation in media and entertainment, help to facilitate the adoption of AAPI history curriculums in K-12 classrooms across the country, and have built an Anti-Hate National Network in 14 U.S. cities to provide resources and support to survivors of racially motivated incidents.
POWER’s donation specifically supported TAAF’s efforts toward fighting anti-Asian hate and fostering safety for the community. InspirASIAN members will also be responsible for spearheading volunteer efforts throughout the year.
Queer Power x The Trevor Project
POWER’s ERG for the LGBTQIA+ community — Queer Power — chose to team up with The Trevor Project — the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people. The nonprofit conducts studies to equip policymakers with necessary research, has created an international peer support network, and provides crisis services 24/7, truly helping to save lives.
Members of Queer Power are some of the most impassioned change agents. Teaming up with such an influential organization like The Trevor Project will only help to create even more positive impact for the LGBTQ+ community. POWER’s donation has helped to fund new workshops for allies of queer youth.
We’re honored to partner with nonprofits who have been such agents of change for diverse communities, and proud of our employees who are torch bearers of POWER’s mission in driving meaningful change in the communities we serve. With this shared goal, together, we’ll go far.
