How POWER Develops People into Leaders

Culture How POWER Develops People into Leaders

Ask our people why they love working at POWER, and they’ll tell you it’s because of their exceptional colleagues and the numerous growth opportunities. These elements are interconnected — supported by our top-down commitment to both professional and personal development. In fact, according to the Fortune and Great Places to Work survey, 96% of our employees believe that POWER genuinely invests in leadership development opportunities.

Read on to discover our approach to leadership and the programming we offer at POWER.

What Leadership Means To Us

We believe leaders are built, not born. Every POWER employee has the potential to lead, and we actively cultivate that potential into confident, capable leaders.

Leadership development begins on day one at POWER. Through comprehensive trainings and mentorship, we’ve created an environment where anyone can make an impact. Whether you aspire to a formal leadership role or want to lead by example, POWER provides a clear pathway to achieve your goals.

Team Structure and Mentorship

Every Revenue new hire is placed on a team alongside fellow customer development representatives, a team leader, and a mentor. This strong support network is dedicated to maximizing your professional and personal growth.

Leadership Development Programs

The POWER Leadership Committee (PLC) consists of senior leaders who shape our leadership development framework and set clear performance standards for advancement.

One part of the PLC’s formal development process is the Compass Community, a program designed to identify and nurture future leaders poised to fill Director or VP positions within the next one to five years. The Compass Community includes regular leadership touch points called Compass Conversations, which are virtual group meetings that take place several times a year and focus on business challenges and opportunities. Employees can pursue Compass Community membership through quarterly nominations from their managers.

Leadership Events

What makes POWER’s culture unique is our commitment to creating one-of-a-kind events and experiences for our people. From local territory socials to team-building retreats, these events foster connection, learning, and community, promoting both personal and professional growth. Here are just a few annual events that aid in the development of our people:

These events not only align our leadership but also provide practical skills and inspiration for future challenges.

Affinity Group Leadership

Advancement in careers is often linked to a sense of belonging. POWER’s six affinity groups — Black Empowerment Resource Group (B.E.R.G.), InspirAsian, Mi Gente, POWER Veterans, Women Empowered, and Queer POWER — offer additional support and mentorship, especially for newer employees from diverse communities.

These affinity groups also provide unique leadership opportunities. Each group is led by a dedicated team of officers: a chair, vice chair, and engagement lead who shape the group’s vision and impact. These positions can be filled by employees from any area of the business. Officers develop their public speaking abilities through national calls, build relationships with executive partners, and maintain nonprofit partnerships, preparing them for broader roles within the business.

On the Horizon

POWER is continuously seeking ways to ensure our people have growth opportunities. With 22 territories and counting, supporting ambitious future leaders has become increasingly important.

In 2024, POWER launched a new division within the People Business Unit called People Development, which is centered around three main pillars — belonging, development, and learning. Over the next year, this team will enhance our existing leadership development programming and create new training and inclusive practices to support employee advancement, ensuring a more systematic and equitable approach to all our efforts.
