Business Technology Team Recognized for Outstanding Effort to Promote Diversity & Inclusion
Chester, Pa. – November 11, 2019 – Power Home Remodeling (“Power”), the nation’s largest, full-service exterior home remodeler, was named the 2019 Best Tech Workplace for Diversity in the 4th annual Timmy Awards in Philadelphia. Hosted annually by Tech in Motion, the Timmy Awards recognize top technology leaders and organizations in ten cities across North America.
Power Home Remodeling’s Business Technology team won both the “Community Favorite” and “Judge’s Choice” titles for Best Tech Workplace for Diversity – the only winner to do so in Philadelphia. Power was hand-selected by an expert panel of judges and captured the popular vote after more than 40,000 votes were tallied in the Philadelphia Timmy Awards.
“It’s powerful that both the local community and our judges recognized Power Home Remodeling for implementing the initiatives and providing the resources necessary for creating diverse practices, collaborative thinking and inclusive work environments,” states Mandy Walker, director of marketing at Motion Recruitment, creator of Tech in Motion. “We’re grateful to acknowledge a company striving to do this through the Timmy Awards, as diversity is not a trending topic – it’s a necessity for innovation.”
The Business Technology (BT) department at Power proudly surpasses industry standards when it comes to diversity, with one-third of BT employees being ethnically or culturally diverse. BT leaders are committed to recruiting diverse talent – including individuals from underrepresented backgrounds, women and both current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families – and continuously look for new ways to promote diverse thinking and celebrate the unique differences of each employee.
“This honorable recognition was made possible by the talented and diverse group of people that make up our BT department, and the commitment from Power as a whole to hire more women, veterans and people of all cultures and backgrounds,” said Timothy Wenhold, chief innovation officer and partner at Power Home Remodeling. “We’re constantly working towards a more diverse and inclusive workplace, both within BT and throughout Power. I believe it’s the key to creating a more collaborative, successful, and happy organization.”
