Delco Gives Day: Giving Back in Our Backyard

Company Delco Gives Day: Giving Back in Our Backyard

As a business based in Delaware County for two decades and founded in service, this year’s inaugural Delco Gives Day event was one POWER was proud to be a part of.

Delco Gives Day (supporting Delaware County) is a 24-hour day of giving and community celebration, hosted by The Foundation for Delaware County, where people can make donations to their favorite nonprofits or support new ones.

There are also a number of celebrations held throughout the county that brings together nonprofits, donors, businesses, and volunteers to showcase the power of collective action and community giving.

POWER employees volunteered their time at a handful of these events, including two specific employees that dedicated months of time and expertise to help to plan a local block party in the city of Chester for the community to enjoy.

POWER continues to call Delaware County our home, and for the past two decades we have challenged ourselves to live our purpose and help realize the potential of this community.

At POWER, most of our philanthropy is employee-directed. So, when our people showed interest in becoming the presenting sponsor for Delco Gives Day, we listened.

More than 20 percent of  POWER employees who work at our HQ live within Delaware County, and it was a no brainer to be a part of this inaugural event and help stand alongside local nonprofits making a meaningful impact in our own backyard.

Impact Through Numbers

This year, over 9,600 donors raised $1.7M and counting for the Delco community in just 24 hours!

These funds will impact roughly 300 local nonprofits, many of which serve critical needs of Delaware County including hunger relief, day care, education, and emergency  services.

This is more than just a fundraising event; it’s a celebration of generosity and community spirit — and we’re honored to join with other companies in the county to create this level of positive change.

Delco Gives Day is a prime example of what happens when businesses come together to realize the potential of our local nonprofits, and when our community steps up to support and show their appreciation.

As part of Power for Good, a set of employee-led initiatives that place POWER people at the center of philanthropy, Delco Gives Day engages those closest to the cause to use their voice and choice to make a positive impact.
