How POWER’s Company Culture is the Driver Behind a Charitable $2.26M Donation

Culture How POWER’s Company Culture is the Driver Behind a Charitable $2.26M Donation

POWER supports Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research, in a unique way when it comes to corporate philanthropy.

Here’s how our biggest asset — an award-winning company culture — shows up in the collective fight against the disease:

Using Our Power For Good

Power employees volunteer at a telethon to raise money for childhood cancer research.

Because we believe our people are our most valuable conduit for change, we give employees voice and choice in where philanthropic funding goes to impact causes they care about — part of the company’s larger Power For Good initiative.

That means employees are in the drivers seat when it comes to planning, creating, and executing programming in support of ALSF for thousands of participating POWER people.

A POWER employee spectates during the company's annual Alex's Kickball tournament to raise money for childhood cancer.

By doing so, employees are compelled to give back on their own volition — not because of recognition, or external news attention — but because of their pride, the fun they have doing it, the impact they make, and the most simple reason of all: to help kids who are in less fortunate circumstances due to pediatric cancer.

This year, POWER set a goal to raise $1.75 million for the nonprofit — and surpassed it. How and why would employees donate such large sums of money from their own paychecks to support another organization?

It’s because of the infectious culture POWER has so meticulously built over the past 30 years in business. Here’s how we rally our people behind the cause:

Power the Cure

Our employees are committed to ALSF for the long haul. Over the lifetime of the partnership, over $9.86M has been raised to help find long-term cures and treatments for pediatric cancer.

To mark an unwavering commitment, POWER created the “Power The Cure” fund at Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Donations within this fund will help support various ALSF innovative therapy grants that take a novel and promising approach to finding cures for childhood cancers. With this fund, hundreds of children – many with their last chance of survival – will be able to enroll in the most innovative and targeted treatments available.
